There is are no lore discrepancies, all they did was flesh out the lore in the later games and media, but the lore is solid, and I can and have shown this loads of time and very easily. The markers are not sentient. Why doesn't it want to be found? Did it want to be destroyed? Is it actually benevolent, but can't control its affects? If so, that is dark, so I'm fine with it. The red Marker appears to not want the pieces to be found in Aftermath. Oh, and don't get me started on the movies. How does that make it whole? Does it have any control of the necromorphs, and if it does, why can't they go near the marker? Also, if it has control, why does it allow any of them to kill Isaac? Why does it allow the hallucination of Nicole to kill Isaac? I might not be brainy enough for this series I guess, because after reading the books, everything I thought I understood went out the window. Why does the marker create necromorphs, but tell people to stop messing with it because it doesn't want to create necromorphs? Why can't the necromorphs go near it? Does the black and red markers have different goals due to their construction? At the end of dead space 1, it wanted to be made whole by being returned to the planet. I'm playing through dead space 3, but I doubt I'm going to get any explanation in this one. I'm not sure what it wanted in dead space 2, but it sure wanted Isaac dead at the end. Then again, in catalyst, the guys brother was being guided to work for the marker due to his unique brain, and I'm not sure what it wanted him to accomplish. I'm not sure about the red marker, but it seemed to want to return to its resting place. From what I gleaned, the Black marker may have created life on earth, but wanted to stay hidden because it kept trying to sabotage people getting to it with visions. I do not understand what the markers want. I've read the books, the comics, played the games, and tried to figure it out online.
